The technology used by BlueBackUp software is “Delta Block” technology which enables only modifications made to files to be sent to the backup servers.
Main characteristics of Delta Block technology :
- A compression algorithm for the data based on the division of files in blocks (the size of a block is about 30k).
- Means that only modified blocks from the same file are sent to the storage server .
- Every backup procedure is a complete backup of your data. The benefit of only transferring modified blocks (and not all the files) is that your phone line is not inundated and its traffic is not slowed down.
- When restoring lost files, the server has “the intelligence” to return only the blocks needed to reconstruct these files.
